Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Arthur C. Clarke

Are you searching for a platform to showcase your magic???..do you have it in you to studiously craft a robot that can withstand any level of hurdles and disastrous circumstances and ultimately emerge as a winner???..do the characters R2D2 and C3PO leave you stunned… then all you robot enthusiasts be prepared for PRAGYAA 2010 brings to you Combot ..an event in which manual and autonomous robots would work in perfect symphony to accomplish the required task… so if you are already getting ideas …innovate, create and display your ingenious designs at PRAGYAA 2010..we are looking forward to a spectacular display of speed, control, and technology.

Problem statement:
Make a high speed, high torque, wired or wireless bot and an autonomous robot that can complete the given track and task consisting of water surfaces as well as hard plywood surfaces with maximum points and in the least possible time.
The manual robot is expected to pick the block and place it on or near the autonomous robot.
The autonomous robot is expected to place the cube in the ditch by any mechanism and return to its original position.
Note: the autonomous robot will not come in contact with water at any point of time.

Machine specifications:
•Dimensions: (40cm * 40cm * 40 cm ) exclusively of the controlling devices  used to control the bot.
•The dimension can change once the turn starts.
• Dry cells or regulated power supply can be used as a source of energy.
• Participants can make use of one or more DC/Stepper motors.
• All machines are necessarily controlled by wired/wireless mechanism   throughout the competition. (Automatic control is prohibited).
• Machines should not be made of Lego parts; however the remote control   system can be of any type.
• The length of the wire between controlling device and the power supply   should be at least 15ft.
•Motors should not cross the voltage specification of more than 30V.

Track specifications:
•The track will consist of plywood surface, hurdles and turns.
• Wherever slope occurs in between the track, the inclination will not exceed 30   degrees.
• The width of the wooden track will be 50cms and will widen at the turns.
• The depth of water will be up to 20cms.
(Participants should make a note that the water surface may not be still at the   time of competition.)

Rounds:
The main event will be held in 2 rounds i.e round I & round II.

Round I:
•Round I will be completely based on placing the blocks in the ditch. Size of the   blocks will be (8cm * 8cm *8 cm). The task will be to gain maximum points.

• The finalists will be declared at the end of round I.

Round II:

•The finalists sorted out after round I will be performing in this round.
• It will be a knockout round of 4 minutes.
• This round will emphasize on retrieving the purple treasure chest (10cm *10cm *10cm) and placing it inside the central ditch along with completion of track; though the final marking system will consider maximum points scored. The weight of the chest will be minimum.
• The treasure chest will be of 100 points and blocks of 30 points each.So the first person to retrieve the chest will gain all the points. You are however allowed to prevent the opponent from placing the chest on the seat.
• The chest will be surrounded by water on four sides. Depth of water will be 20 cms at the start of the contest and will be continuously receding. It will get completely drained in three and a half minutes.
• You can retrieve the chest either by crossing the water body (by getting into the water or building a bridge) or wait for the water to drain.
• Appropriate bonus points can be gained during this round.

Rules:

General:

• The team members are not permitted to touch the bot once the run begins   .However, aforesaid the teams are allowed to change a part of the machine if   damaged during their attempt.
• The teams should be present at the specified time

Eligibility:.
• One team should consist of maximum four members.

•Participants should caryy valid I-card of the respective institute/college.

Note:
•Criteria about penalties, hand touches and bonus points will be declared at   the time of the competition.

• Change in any rule, if any will be highlighted on the website.

•For any type of queries mail us on

Judging Criteria:

Immunity:

Round II will test the time managing skills of the participants. As such immunity gained by the participants in round I will assist them in round II. The immunity will be of the form that the slowest participant (max time consuming bot) will have to perform first followed by participants with improved track times. This will help those with good track times to plan their activity and gain experience through initial performances.

Penalties & Bonuses:
•In case the team takes a hand touch, both during round I & round II, the   participants will be penalized in terms of time period.
• On the contrary, bonus pts can also be gained during this round.
Important note:
•If any valid technical problem arises in between the run, the bot will get just   one extra chance to perform again.
