"TO MAKE THE COMPLEX SIMPLE HAS BECOME OUR FOCK, DARE TO COMPLEX THE SIMPLE.".

    Contraption….. The mechanism of conniving multi-step complex arrangements which are outwardly simple with convolute and complicated structure, to  accomplish a certain goal using some tricky energy conversions and interrelated steps to rake up decisive points. It is a tailored chain of events such that each step triggers the next and contributes, though in a completely unrelated manner, towards completion of the final task. Don’t be simple, reduce or shorten instead try to make intricate, perplex, interdependent. This requires a level of perfection and innovation that really appeals.
    Let us see how you can harness different forms of energy in ways unimagined and still feasible.

Complexity is what we engineers always cherish, isn’t it?

Problem Statement

Flag Hosting.

The flag will come upside at least 1 feet from base of contraption. You have to bring your own flag. The flag is of cloth in 6 cm in length and 4 cm in height.

Rules and Regulations:

• The entire contraption set up must fit in a 1m (length) × 1m (width) × 1m (height) space.

•  Maximum number of group members is limited to 3

• The contraptions should be completely autonomous and work without interference of participants.

• Only a 230 volt AC/50 Hz (mains) electric supply will be provided to each team.

• All steps & energy conversion carry equal weight age.

• Each team will be given only 3 trial to complete the given problem statement (Each next trial will lose points).

Only 3 repeat energy conversions will  be counted. Reverse energy conversions will be separately counted.

•There should be at least 10 steps and 7 energy conversions for eligibility.

• The contraption must be safe to the satisfaction of the judges and coordinators (No explosive materials should be used).

• Participants are only allowed to initialize the system.

• Once the system is initialized if participants touch the system then it is counted as hand touch/ intervention (Every hand touch will deduct points).

• Maximum of THREE interventions allowed in any trial. Parallel contraption are allowed and have bonus points.

• All the participating teams must submit a write up of their contraption describing the steps, the energy conversions involved in their contraption.

• In case of tie between teams, the judges and coordinator will decide.

• Decision of judges will be final and binding to all.

• Event coordinators reserve the right of changing or cancellation of any above mention rules before or during the event.(If change new rule will upload).

Judging Criteria:

    •15 points for each step

    10 points for each energy conversion.

The following formula shall be used to calculate the total score P
FORMULA :-P=100A+10B+15C+30D-45E+Bonus point

Where,
P= Total points
A= final task (First attempt=1, Second attempt=0.75, Third attempt=0.5 )
B=No. of energy conversion.
C=No. of step
D=No of parallel contraption
E=No. of intervention.

Innovative steps and energy conversions will be awarded bonus credits by Judges(i.e. judges point).
Final Score = Total Points (P) + Judge’s Points

Winners will be decided on Final Score.
Judges decision will be considered as the final decision
